Nel cuore storico di Milano, a pochi passi dal Duomo, esiste un luogo dove la storia della città e quella della sua vita notturna si incontrano da quasi un secolo. Oggi si chiama Venus Club Milano, ma la sua storia comincia molto prima, nel 1931, quando in via Gaetano Giardino 1 nasce un locale destinato a diventare uno dei simboli della nightlife milanese: l’Aretusa.
Gli anni dell’Aretusa
Negli anni Trenta Milano è una città in fermento culturale e artistico. In questo contesto prende vita l’Aretusa, un night club sotterraneo che unisce musica, eleganza e atmosfera internazionale. È uno spazio dedicato all’incontro, alla musica dal vivo e alla vita sociale della città.
Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, la struttura sotterranea del locale assume anche una funzione diversa e drammatica: diventa rifugio antiaereo durante i bombardamenti che colpiscono Milano. In quegli anni le sue mura non ospitano soltanto musica e spettacolo, ma diventano anche un luogo di protezione per i cittadini.
Terminata la guerra, l’Aretusa torna rapidamente a essere uno dei punti di riferimento della vita notturna milanese.
La Cave di Milano
Negli anni Cinquanta il locale vive una stagione particolarmente vivace. È ricordato come una vera “cave musicale”, uno spazio sotterraneo dove si suonano jazz, swing e dixieland. Musicisti e orchestre animano le serate in un ambiente raffinato ma allo stesso tempo bohémien.
Tra gli artisti che frequentano e suonano in questo periodo compaiono importanti musicisti del jazz italiano, tra cui il clarinettista Felix Cameroni, protagonista della scena musicale milanese del dopoguerra. Le serate sono fatte di orchestra, jam session e ballo, e attirano una clientela elegante composta da imprenditori, artisti e figure di spicco della città.
L’Aretusa diventa così uno dei luoghi simbolo della Milano notturna del dopoguerra: un club dove musica e società si incontrano sotto la città, in un’atmosfera unica.
La trasformazione degli anni Settanta
All’inizio degli anni Settanta il locale attraversa una nuova fase di trasformazione. L’attività viene rinnovata e riaperta con il nome Nuova Arethusa, segnando il passaggio dal night club classico alle nuove forme di intrattenimento della nightlife moderna.
Pochi anni dopo arriva un cambiamento ancora più significativo. Nel 1976 nasce la società Christian Club, che inaugura una nuova stagione del locale. L’attività prende ufficialmente avvio nel 1977 e il club diventa una discoteca di grande fascino nella Milano di quegli anni.
Durante questa fase il locale attraversa anche un breve momento di sperimentazione e assume per un periodo il nome L’Equivoco, prima di tornare nuovamente alla denominazione Christian Club. È un’epoca di trasformazioni nella cultura della notte: la musica cambia, le discoteche diventano il nuovo centro della socialità urbana e il club si adatta a questo nuovo spirito.
La nascita del Venus
Con l’arrivo degli anni Ottanta il locale assume il nome che lo accompagnerà fino ai giorni nostri: Venus Club.
Da quel momento il club continua a evolversi mantenendo però il suo carattere unico: uno spazio sotterraneo nel cuore della città, dove storia e contemporaneità convivono.
Con il tempo il nome diventa Venus Club Milano, e il locale si afferma come uno dei punti di riferimento della luxury nightlife milanese, frequentato da un pubblico internazionale alla ricerca di eleganza, atmosfera e musica.
Venus Club Milano oggi
Oggi il Venus Club Milano rappresenta una delle realtà più longeve della nightlife europea. Pochissimi locali possono vantare una storia che attraversa quasi cento anni nello stesso luogo.
La sua architettura, il suo carattere scenografico e la sua atmosfera cinematografica lo hanno reso negli ultimi anni anche una filming location molto richiesta.
Il club è stato scelto come location per diverse produzioni cinematografiche e televisive, tra cui:

- una produzione seriale internazionale distribuita su piattaforma streaming
Inoltre il Venus è stato scelto anche per uno dei videoclip musicali più riconoscibili girati a Milano, “Elvis” di Guè e Rose Villain.
Un luogo dove la storia continua
Quello che rende unico il Venus Club Milano non è soltanto la sua lunga storia, ma la sua capacità di attraversare epoche diverse senza perdere la propria identità.
Dal jazz degli anni Cinquanta alle discoteche degli anni Settanta, dalla nightlife degli anni Ottanta fino alla Milano internazionale di oggi, questo luogo ha continuato a trasformarsi insieme alla città.

A Historic Nightclub in the Heart of Milan Since 1931
In the historic center of Milan, just a few steps from the Duomo, there is a place where nearly a century of history meets the vibrant energy of modern nightlife. Today it is known as Venus Club Milano, one of the most distinctive destinations for Milan nightlife, but its story began long before under a different name.
The origins of the venue date back to 1931, when a refined underground night club called Aretusa opened its doors in Via Gaetano Giardino 1, in the very heart of Milan. From the beginning, the club became a meeting point for music, culture and social life, quickly establishing itself as one of the most fascinating addresses in the city’s emerging nightlife scene.
The Early Years of Aretusa
During the 1930s Milan was evolving into a modern European capital of culture and entertainment. Aretusa reflected that spirit: an elegant night club where live music, orchestras and social gatherings created a unique atmosphere beneath the streets of the city.
When World War II reached Milan, the underground structure of the venue took on an unexpected role. During the bombings of the city, the space was used as an air-raid shelter, providing protection for citizens during one of the most difficult periods in Milan’s history.
After the war ended, the club returned to its original purpose and quickly became one of the most vibrant nightlife venues in the city.
The Music Cave of Milan
During the 1950s, Aretusa entered one of its most fascinating eras. The club became known as a true “music cave” of Milan, a place where jazz, swing and live orchestras animated the evenings of the city.
Musicians, artists and music lovers gathered there to listen to performances that blended elegance with the bohemian spirit of the time. Among the artists connected to the venue during this period was the jazz clarinetist Felix Cameroni, one of the important figures of the Milanese jazz scene in the post-war years.
The club became a meeting place for musicians, entrepreneurs and prominent personalities of Milanese society. Nights were filled with live performances, improvisation and dancing, giving Aretusa a reputation as one of the most atmospheric night clubs in the city.
Transformation in the 1970s
At the beginning of the 1970s, the venue entered a new phase. The historic club was renovated and reopened under the name Nuova Arethusa, marking the transition from the classic post-war night club culture to a more modern concept of nightlife.
A few years later, another major transformation followed. In 1976, the company Christian Club was established, and the venue reopened shortly after as a modern discotheque reflecting the evolving nightlife culture of Milan.
For a brief period during this time the club adopted the curious name L’Equivoco, before returning again to the name Christian Club. These years represented a moment of experimentation and change, as disco culture and modern nightlife were redefining the way people experienced the night.
The Birth of Venus
In the 1980s, the venue adopted the name that would define its future: Venus Club.
From that moment on, the club continued to evolve while maintaining its unique identity as an underground nightlife space in the heart of Milan. Over time the venue became known as Venus Club Milano, establishing itself as one of the most recognizable names in the city’s nightlife.
Today the club is considered one of the most distinctive destinations for luxury nightlife in Milan, attracting an international audience looking for elegance, music and an authentic Milan nightlife experience.

Today Venus Club Milano stands as one of the longest-running nightlife venues in the city, a rare place where almost one hundred years of history meet contemporary club culture.
